Cheerful Giving!

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity;for God loves a cheerful giver!”2 Corinthians 9:7

Today, my kids made me proud. We have been so blessed by hand me downs of clothes, toys, books, games…the list goes on an on. I also want to teach my kids to say thank you when they are given a gift of any size, and I also want to teach them to give to others.

Over the years, the children have each collected coins around the house and put them in their piggy banks. Last night, Levi said to me “I don’t think my bank will hold any more money.” So it gave me the idea to take their coins to the bank to deposit into their savings accounts. I found out recently, our bank has a free coin star machine available to count coins of account holders.  I needed to go to the bank anyway, and I knew this would be fun for the kids and I could get my errand done at the same time.

So the kids went to work emptying their banks. Ava literally broke her bank:(  I did not notice she carried it onto the tile until it was too late! avabank zachbank

Our church is building a new building that includes a new children’s area and a big slide. Every Sunday, the kids see a picture of the slide and ask me about it. So after they had their coins bagged up to go to the bank. I pulled out an extra Piggy Bank we had and ask them “Who wants to put some of your money into this bank to help pay for the new slide at church?” All 3 of them “I Do! I Do"!”  I did not limit the amount of money they put in the “Slide Bank” After lifting it, it is almost full! I am so proud of them!

Then….off we went to the bank!

At 3 years old (minus the $$ he put in the slide bank) Levi has saved $12.65 in spare change.

For the next year at least, I am going to have all 3 kids collect the change for the “slide bank.” I can’t wait to report how much money 3 toddlers can pull together by next year!
