Ho-Hum

We have been just kinda Ho-Hum lately.
I have started a new fun business venture….reselling upscale children’s clothes. Check out my facebook page for Little Bo-tique….fabulously resold!
I have recently had a 2nd sinus surgery. My first one was 12 years ago but did not solve my chronic sinusitus.  Hoping this one gives me some more relief!
Today, MLK, day, I had some fun with the TripleSmiles. First they listened to a book together on the ipad about Dr. King.

Afterwards, we did a fun little TLC Art Project.

At the end of the day, my sweet princess said, “Mama, if the people with dark skin had to drink water, and the people with light skin got to have milk…Dr. King would not like that! Ahhh….test complete!

Road Trip USA

As an “official” first year homeschooling mom, I am constantly looking for “what works, what doesn’t” Some great advice from Sally Clarkson has been…”don’t fill in all the blanks, if its not working…throw it out” I am not a “fill in the blank” homeschooling mom anyway, but you get the gist of her advice. Anyway, I recently stumbled upon
Road Trip USA and I love it!!! I am personally planning to use it every time we visit a new state. We travel so often with both sets of Grandparents out of town that I am hoping this is a natural way to take our learning with us every time we get in the car/van/plane.
On our first day back from a much needed 2 week break, we “re-visited” New Mexico!

Because this was our first “entry” we had to set up our notebooks.

Inside our front pocket is our passports, and Map of the whole United States.

After completing a coloring sheet on each state, they will glue the state flag into their passport. Then they will color that state on our map.

This curriculum is jammed packed with complete lesson plans and activities on every state. This is how we are starting, but as they grow and get older I am excited to have lesson plans to grow with probably all the way to 4th or 5th grade.
Here are a few more pictures from our recent trip to New Mexico!
