Sweet Memories

I’ve told you before and now I’ll tell you AGAIN….if you haven’t gotten the incredibly talented Chelle Cates  to photograph your family…..you are missing out!!! My mom came into town recently and it was the perfect opportunity to have Chelle capture some family memories for us.

How does she get a 6,5,4 year old to look AND smile……I tell ya, she is incredibly talented! Her style is very laid back and she has taught me over our MANY photo sessions to STOP stressing over the “perfect picture” and what happens when we stop stressing over the “perfect picture?” WE GET IT!

We were actually running about 30 minutes late for our session and instead of stressing, I called Chelle and said….”We are doing a total wardrobe change, and we’re gonna be late” She says “I’ll see ya when I see ya!”

The only thing that makes me sad about this picture is that my grandmother isn’t in it. I so wanted her to meet Ava. She passed away about 2 months before Ava was born.

Dear Grandpa Donaldson,

Once again, we’ve been at VBS the week before Father’s Day. This year we learned about God’s Amazing Wonders all over the world….and we got to dress up like pilots and pretend to be flying in a plane to see all of His Amazing Creation.

We were kinda hoping, you might build us one of these to play with when we come see you in Michigan soon.

Anyway, Mommy asked us some questions about you and this is what we thought….

Name:Grandpa.

He is 25 years old and weighs 26 pounds. He likes to eat pancakes and drink hot co-coa and Dr. Pepper. His favorite color is green and blue. He is so strong he can lift heavy things. His favorite toys is his airplane. When he goes to work, he works for money. He and I like to open Christmas presents together. He smiles when he sees snowflakes. He loves me because (insert Ava only) he thinks I’m cute. I love him because he bought us bicycles to ride in his driveway.

(Mommy did not prompt answers, the 3 kids worked together on the answers)

Happy Father’s DAy Grandpa!

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy.

Well once again, I am using my blog as a method of saying “Happy Father’s Day” to the best Daddy a little girl could ever every imagine…just in the nick of time no lessSmile

Things you might NOT know about my dad……

1. He ALWAYS had time for me. He was never too busy. I always knew that I could walk into his office at anytime and he would stop what he was doing to see what I needed.

2. He drove me to school almost everyday from Kindergarten-6th grade.

3. When I hit a tree learning to drive, he stayed calm and said “honey, you just hit a tree.”

4. When he came home to a HOLE in our garage door because I backed our car though the door…he simply said “oh honey, we’ll have to work on that!”

5. After, I perfected driving enough to drive across town and decided I MUST have a donut from McFarlans before that darn Algebra class…I knew I could stop by the church for him to write me a note to “excuse” me for being late to school. Smile

6. He NEVER made me go to church. Instead, he taught me to LOVE going to church.

7. He cherished me….and because he did, I never looked for love in the wrong places.

8. He was consistent.

9. He took me bowling.

10. He taught me to love others…and that honey always worked better than vinegar.

I do Love my Daddy…and am proud to still be a Daddy’s little girlSmile
