Gatlinburg Aquarium

We had a fun adventure today to the aquarium in Gatlinburg, Tennessee....The one really cool shot of the boys in the middle of a tank was a round tank with a hole in the middle so kids could "get up in it" the boys weren't tall enough...so I was underneath them holding them up! OUCH!

Christmas Vacation

Over the River and Through the Woods to Nana and Papa's we came! Well....We did it! We traveled across the country with 3 "babies" in their carseats for 14 hours without stopping! Well, we stopped....but not for long. Actually only 3x in all. We stopped at one McDonalds close to Little Rock for some play time...then all 3 went to sleep shortly after and slept the rest of the way to Knoxville, Tennessee! Whew....driving at night worked! I have captured many many smiles today. I was reminded today how much fun Christmas is with children. We celebrated Christmas Eve and Morning with my mom and dad in their home...and then went to my brother's house Christmas night to celebrate with his wife's mom and dad. I have included lots of smiles in today's post....as well as ZAD having his very first meal at the "big table" in a "big boy chair" as well as this priceless expression to opening one of his Christmas gifts. Santa Claus is Coming To Town

These pictures are from a couple of Santa visits. The picture of all 3 kids is with the infamous NorthPark Santa at NorthPark Mall in Dallas. For those of you who may not be familiar...my friend went at 1 pm to get us a number for our picture and we were up about 7 pm!

Remember you can click on individual pictures to see them more clearly.

Merry Kissmas!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

The kids went to a Birthday Party for Jesus Friday night while Mom and Dad went to two Christmas Parties...AKA...A GROWNUP DATE! All day long..Z would ask about the much anticipated Birthday Cake! And LJ's Christmas Tee didn't last for too long at the party. Oh well....The best news is I fit back into one of my favorite pre-baby party outfits! LOL!

Christmas Begins.....

Today very unexpectedly we headed out as a family in the middle of the afternoon to the Gaylord Texan to catch some Christmas Magic. It definitely a magical place. I am a little disappointed the boys did not smile for any of the pictures....but I do think they enjoyed the trains, lights, and ice cream. And we didn't have any trouble getting Little Missy to Smile..Definitely worth the drive......and a fun family adventure!

New Love For The Golden Arches

I only wish I had a picture to go with this post. The boys are finally old enough to crawl through the play places at McDonalds. So after a crazy shopping trip trying to fit them into winter coats and pants....we hit a McDonalds with a 5 or 6 story high climbing space. I was with a friend and we were enjoying conversation.....Ahhhh....conversation with a friend....when out in the Texas night appears ZAD with no pants and no underwear on!!! So, in I go to retrieve the pants....I climb up one level, no pants, two levels, still no pants....three...no...four...oh yes at almost the top are the lonesome pants with no legs. Reminded me of the Dr. Seuss book "Scared Right Out Of My Pants"

Reagan's Story

Reagan is the daughter of a dear friend who I met my freshman year at DBU. We have remained friends through our first teaching jobs, celebrating each other getting married, and enjoying our pregnancies together..but not always at the same time. We have shared much laughter and many tears through the ups and downs of life. Reagan has recently come home from her 3rd heart surgery and is at Dell Children's in Austin. Read her story below...

My name is Reagan Grace Williams. I was born on Feb. 15, 2007 with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCA's. I also have DiGeorge Syndrome which not only affects my heart but my immune system as well. I am only one in about 350 babies a year that are born with all this.

When I was born I spent 10 days in the NICU before the docs let my parents, Rod & Jennifer, take me home to meet my big brother Nolan.

At the age of 2 months, I suffered two embollic strokes while at home. My mom had to call 911 & I was taken to the nearest ER and then taken by helicopter to Dell Children's Hospital in Austin, TX. I spent 12 days in the PICU and then was able to return home.

When I was 4 months old, I traveled to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, CA for my first open heart surgery. Dr. Hanley (the top surgeon in the world for this type of corrective surgery) performed a unifocalization of my vessels. I spent 6 weeks in the hospital recovering. When it was time for me to go home, I was only able to spend 2 days at home before being taken back to the hospital and once again riding the helicopter to Dell Children's. I then spent another 8 weeks in the hospital for a staph infection in my sternum & bloodstream. I had to go to surgery where they re-opened my sternum and dug out the infection that had attacked my sternum & then a wound v.a.c. was placed over my sternum to promote healing. I received i.v. antibiotics for 6 weeks through a PICC line while in the hospital. At the end of this hospitalization, due to G.I. issues that started after my first heart surgery, I had another surgery to get a g-tube & nissen fundoplication. I have fed from the g-tube ever since.

In Jan. 2008 I was due to go back to LPCH for my second heart surgery. Three days before boarding the plane my parents had me in the ER and I was admitted to the PICU with RSV. I spent 10 days there and then returned home.

In Feb. 2008, I celebrated my first birthday. 6 days later I flew to LPCH in California for my second heart surgery where Dr. Hanley performed a revision of my unifocalization and replaced my shunt with a larger one. I spent 8 weeks in the hospital recovering before I was able to return back home to Texas.

Once home, I was able to enjoy the comforts of home for almost a month before I returned to Dell Children's with pneumonia. The pneumonia kept me in the hospital for 4 weeks but I have been home now since June 16 with my family. This has been the longest I've ever been at home & managed to stay out of the hospital. Yippee! Unfortunately though, I am due to return to LPCH in October for my 3rd heart surgery.

My parents properly named me as my middle name is "Grace" for it is only by the grace of God that my family and I have survived all this! It has been a long journey and we still have more to go but God has always carried us through the good & the bad times. We thank you- our family, friends & even strangers, for your support along the way!

Fun Outside

Today was a beautiful day to play outside! AN took her first slide down the slide...and ZA loved pushing her along. Note the grin on his face! I think she decided she liked the tent on the ground much better.

Where Is My Bow?

I get ask alot "Is she always this good?" Well.....unless I forget her bow or put her in boy clothes!

Red Feet

My day started so nice. My husband got all 3 kids up and fed them so i could catch an extra 30 minutes of sleep. So sweet.and then I was suddenly thrust back into my world of toddlerhood and reality...before I had my 2nd cup coffee, my boys got a hold of some RED Kool Aid....and decided to play "shake" and got it all over the ivory tile. Luckily, the boys like to clean the floor! LOL! So as we started cleaning this mess....one problem...it was getting all over all of our feet....and we kept re-tracking it all over the floor. So we added socks, and added Barney and High Chairs to our clean up effort. And I am taking a break to write this blog...so that I can laugh instead of having an emotional breakdown!

Candy Fever!

The kids sure enjoyed their "first" Halloween. We let them "go at it" and enjoy their candy. We stopped at one house and LJ had tears in his eyes. Gordon ask me "why is he crying?" We stopped at another house and I got a bottle of water. LJ guzzled down 1/2 of my bottle of water! We later noticed he had eaten a whole box of red hots! Saturday morning, we were loading up in the Van..and LJ grabbed his bucket and started toward the neighbor's doorbell. Sorry Little guy, its just once a year! Also...a big THANKYOU to Nana for making their costumes this year!

Shopping to Stand About

Little Girl made mommy so happy today....when she stood up in Joy to a full shopping cart! This is a very fun toy that scans items as they are placed in the cart. AN was very interested while watching her brothers play with the toy and eventually took it over! Thankyou to Kelli and Saige for the toy!

Fun At The Mall

We hit the mall today after nap time. Our sweet friend Vicki is always up to go along on my spontaneous ideas. Check out AN's smiles after her first bite of Haagen Dazs.

An Animal Noah Was Not Expecting

First of all...those of you who know me,know I hate to do anything out of order...and it bothers me greatly that this post is out of order. This pix of LJ was taken a few weeks ago....he was playing one day and putting himself inside Noah's Ark about to take a boat ride. But I found it hilarious!

Park After Dark

Tonight.....we went to the Park after Dark. The kids had so much fun. A package arrived from Nana today....AKA "Nana Boxes" with light up Thomas the Train light up shoes inside......they came in very handy for keeping up with the boys at the Park After Dark...they loved stomping around making them light up. Afterward Mom and Dad decided to hit the Starbucks Drive Thru...when we pulled in ZAD said "Coffee"....and Daddy said...Hmmmm...I wonder how many times he has seen Mommy drive thru Starbucks...not sure this talking thing is a good thing afterall....Just Kidding!
