Rainy Day Cookie Fun!

Our day started with 2 boys in my bed about 6 am to the sound and light show of an enormous storm. They didn't buy the "its the middle of the night...we need to go back to sleep" plea. So.....what to do at 8 am...when we have already been up 2 hours? Why not make cookies? This "activity" has been rolling around in my brain for a while...actually, since Christmas when my mom gave me this enormous bucket of cookie cutters. So after rolling out our dough, I let each child find the letters of their name and cut them out of the dough. Of course, we had to help Ava find her name, but with only 2 letters in her name, she is sure to learn it soon! This turned out to be lots of fun and the kids really enjoyed eating each letter. Of course the teacher in me made them tell me what letter they were eating before they could eat it:) And don't forget you can click on the images to enlarge them if you want to inspect the cleanliness of my kitchen:)(

Great idea and great fun, Noelle. I remember doing the same thing with number cookie cutters and teaching my children their phone number. Those preschool years of "fun at home" are some of my favorite years.
